“Does my homeowner’s insurance policy cover my boat?”
Homeowners insurance policies will sometimes ask if you own a boat in the questionaire. If so, where do you store your boat? (at a slip, in the driveway, in the back yard on a lift..etc). Typically, if a homeowner’s insurance policy is extending coverage to your boat or personal watercraft, it will only protect your boat while it is on your property. Furthermore, the amount of coverage offered in homeowner policies is typically less than what you may purchase on a mono-line boat insurance policy.
Damage to your boat that occurs while you are launching the boat or when you are out on the water would not be covered by your homeowner’s policy. Furthermore, the homeowner’s insurance policy specifically won’t cover liability while you’re on your personal watercraft. This is why having a separate policy for your boat is so important!
North Broward Insurance Solutions can shop your boat quote with a myriad of companies to ensure that you are paying the lowest price out there for the coverage that you require.
