The Positive Side of Driving in the Rain in South Florida…

As I write this, at 6:30 pm, the rain has finally subsided…after at least 30 hours of nearly continuous storming. At one point in the night, we woke up and realized our roof was leaking. Or our floor…5 am is the wrong time to clarify this particular scenario. And given that we haven’t had a rain of this caliber in months and months, it’s impossible to tell if this is a long term or brand new problem. Figures….if we hadn’t have voluntarily removed our floors last week, the leaky floor and/or ceiling definitely would have washed them out. (…I did say to my roofer this afternoon: “I think the floor AND the roof are leaking. Yes, both sporadically and simultaneously…”)

Driving-in-rain-at-night

Needless to say….I’m elated that the tile guy was running behind. It’s the little things that keep me believing…

On my 31 minute drive to work this morning, I had a lot of time to reflect on why I like driving in the rain in South Florida. Here are a few of my thoughts whilst toking the long way….

  1. I kind of love the people who drive with their hazards on. You’re fairly warned about the assholes on the road…long before you approach them.
  2. There are many less cars on the road during a torrential downpour. I don’t know if Floridians consistently call out of work when it’s raining, or everyone is running later than I am.
  3. Less police presence. It’s not like I’m doing anything wrong, per se, but the notion alone is comforting.
  4. Once you strap on the polarized sunglasses…in your lifted SUV or truck, you’re safely ready to conquer the puddles, ponds and swimming pool-sized divots in the South Florida roadways. It’s an exciting journey that could end abruptly when your air-intake system sucks in too much moisture.
  5. Less people at restaurants and happy hours…because no one is finna’ get wet…but the Moose Lodge is absolutely packed. The Wi-Fi signal here is strong.

While I did spend a fair amount of hours at work today, since I made it safely and didn’t want to leave…the monsoon left us without internet until the workday was over.

So I have a long, rainy night full of insurance quoting and emailing ahead of me. The joys.

If you’re in need of property & casualty, liability, auto or homeowner’s insurance in Florida…anywhere in the State of Florida…please don’t hesitate to contact me via email: Allie@NorthBrowardInsurance.com. I’d love to review your coverage and see how much money I can save you.

Yesterday I saved a lady almost $1000 per year…while keeping her with the same insurance company. Progressive. It could literally save you money to re-quote your coverage with the carrier you’re already insured with. Clapping hands emoji in between all of these words.

How about that. #Howbowdat
